Recently, we lost someone dear to our family.

In the days that followed, I searched through years of photographs looking for images to honor him. I found so many beautiful moments with the people he loved. But I couldn't find a portrait that simply celebrated him. It felt like a missing chapter. That's when I realized there are portraits we don't know we'll treasure until it's too late to make them.

I called my dad and asked if he'd let me create something a little different. He laughed, agreed, and immediately informed me that he didn't need any "beauty shots." I took them anyway.

We often think of portrait photography as something we do for children, high school seniors, or growing families.

But the faces that have weathered decades deserve to be celebrated too.

Every laugh line.

Every weathered hand.

Every bushy eyebrow.

They tell the story of a life that has been fully lived. And one day, those photographs become some of the most treasured ones we own.

As a fine art portrait photographer serving Scottsdale, Phoenix, and families throughout Arizona, I believe every season of life deserves to be remembered—not just childhood.
